Calgary Underground Film Fest
CUFF presents genre films—new or obscure, local low-budget productions, and unexpected documentaries. (I’m former vice-prez and still volunteer.)
These were awarded poster gold and poster series silver at the Canadian Marketing Awards and recognized by Leurzer’s Archive, Applied Arts and Coupe.
Illustrations by Byron Eggenschwiler.
Ted Leo Sled Island poster
As the Ted Leo song says, "Believe in the buzzing of bees around me and we'll get on." Guitar amps buzz too. Mr. Leo called this screen-printed poster "bee-yoo-tiful." Communication Arts, Applied Arts, Coupe and Calgary Ad Rodeo Anvil Awards liked it too.
Roth and Ramberg photography.
Dale and Michelle’s new site (at the time) showed their work full-screen, thanks to increasing internet speed. This photo-less photography promo won a Calgary Ad Rodeo Anvil Award.

Users scrolled way, way down in an email that complimented the direct mail. (We were limited to 600 pixels wide, but not how long.)
The VaJayJay Monologues
Euphemistic posters for a one-woman show that challenged supposed progress. Have things improved if Oprah still won’t say ‘vagina’ on TV.
